Founded in 2017, Green Technology Education Centre (GTEC) is a BC-based non-profit society with charitable tax status, driven by a highly committed and passionate Board of Directors. Our organization is dedicated to advancing education and driving innovation in sustainable environmental and green technologies.

Educational Outreach: Addressing the educational needs of communities through a grassroots development model focused on green technology adoption.

Open Access Knowledge: Publishing a free online forum to facilitate information sharing, dialogue, and critical thinking around environmental issues—with a special focus on practical, actionable solutions.

AI for Sustainability: Developing advanced, AI-based environmental assessment software to help organizations and communities evaluate the impact of implementing various green technologies.

Neighbourhood Environmental Education Project
In partnership with Vancouver’s Neighbourhood Houses, this initiative brings environmental learning directly to communities. -
GTEC Reader
A new publication offering thought leadership on green topics. The first issue of this free, online-access journallaunched on September 1, 2019. -
Environmental Assessment Software
Developed in collaboration with Lunge Inc., this tool aims to empower data-driven decision-making in sustainability strategies.

👥 GTEC Board of Directors Snapshots
Arden Henley, Ed.D.
Educator, visionary and social architect, Arden Henley is the former Vice President and Principal of City University in Canada. His accomplishments include founding Southtown Youth Services, leading two pioneering treatment centres for youth at Peace Arch Community Services Society, and establishing CityU’s innovative Counselling program. Arden has advised numerous government and community agencies and holds a BA from McMaster University, an MA in Psychology from Duquesne University, and a Doctorate in Education from SFU.
Mary Charleson, MBA
Marketing speaker, educator, and strategist, Mary Charleson authors the widely read FiveMinuteMarketing.com blog and newsletter, delivering actionable marketing insights for busy entrepreneurs. Her books, Word of Mouth Mouse & Mobileand Five-Minute Marketing, reflect her deep industry knowledge. As a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and the Global Speakers Federation, Mary delivers impactful keynotes and corporate presentations.
Gerry Zipursky, MSW
A community leader and social innovator, Gerry Zipursky served as the founding Executive Director of South Vancouver Neighbourhood House and later as Executive Director of Vancouver’s Jewish Community Centre. He also directed business operations at City University in Canada. Gerry founded Gibson’s Public Market and Marine Education Centre, and has successfully managed projects spanning construction, international events, and film. His commitment to community is evident through extensive board and committee work at local, national, and global levels.
Brock Johnston, LLB
A seasoned commercial lawyer and partner at Clark Wilson LLP, Brock Johnston brings over 30 years of experience. He’s known for proactively identifying legal challenges and creating strategic solutions, particularly in infrastructure and property leasing. Recognized by Best Lawyers for his excellence in Commercial Real Estate, Brock is passionate about leveraging his expertise to advance GTEC’s vision.
